When locking the car/setting the alarm, the single indicator flash has stopped working but when unlocking the double flash still works as normal.

I happened to ask the same question some time ago. Just check to make sure all your doors are closed properly and that the hatch is properly down which in my case it wasn't!!

Check the drivers door switch.

Mine failed on the Fabia Estate Mk1 1.9 TDI 105 bhp and the alarm would not work, door led would not flash because it thought the driver's door was not closed!

I know, I know, What a plonker you feel . But on the up side isn't it great when it turns out to be something so simple I had exactly the same embarrassing moment but as I said it was the tailgate I hadn't closed properly on mine!!
