Pirelli P7 for Yeti

Featured Replies

When my SIMBA was delivered the dealer changed the tyres to Pirelli P7 as the tyres from factory were old (took a 2012 delivered car to gain 5yr warranty, 5yr free service and 1 year free insurance). The showroom car has Dunlop 17 inchers. Tyres are 255/50 R17.

When I looked up in Pirelli website found P7 is not recommended for Yeti - no homologation. Pirelli shows Cinturato P7 as matching Yeti. Comfort rating of Cinturato P7 is 5 while just P7 is 4.

Are the P7s the cause of tyre noise being high in my car? Engine noise is practically nil.

Has anyone any experience with P7?

Should I ask them to get Cinturato P7 because Pirelli recommend this?

I had to Google that one.

I'm afraid I don't know either,but I think the tyres will be 225/50/17.

Decided not to post that.........

Pirelli tyres are a factory fit brand in the 225/50 R17 94W (or V) size, so I wouldn't be too concerned by the model of tyre you have, as these change over time with new designs coming on to the market, for example the Conti Sport 5.

Regard noise, then I would suggest it may be tyre roar depending on the road surface quality; Skoda's do tend to suffer a little from this.

my mistake - it is 225/50 not 255/50. The noise does change over the road surface quality. Perhaps I used to hear the engine roar over tyre noise in my Tiida so was not aware of the thing called tyre roar ;-)

My Dad's latest Mercedes A class came on Pirelli Cinturato and has a noticeable increase in tyre noise over his previous A class fitted with Kumhos. Identical spec cars so must be the tyres.

I fitted Pirelli Cinturato tyres to a Singer Chamois when they first became available. Fantastic grip but very noisy and didn't wear well.

Is Cinturato that old? Pirelli website rates 5/5 for comfort while P7 gets only 4/5! So have to go to some other brand?

Absolutely, nearly as old as me! :giggle:
