Help! Egr delete fail :'(

Featured Replies

Took off my engine cover this morning to do the elephant mod and I thought y egr delete pipe looked odd, looks like the top bolt nearest the bulkhead had come loose, went to tighten it and its just spinning, pulled it out and it's stripped the thread :( post-102590-13713731293669_thumb.jpg

Should I try a retap? If worse come to worse a nut and nylock would do would n it? :'(

Just stick a nut and bolt through it

As hutchy says, but and bolt = job done.

It's easy to over tighten the egr bolts and the thread gets chewed as you discovered :(

What a nice bit of useful advice.

I have never known anyone to strip one of the inlet manifold threads before though.

Was a heavy handed fitter who did it for me on nightshift...took a steady handed electrician to do it properly ;)
