BT Vision Update

Featured Replies

Any forum members had the 'update' for their BT Vision PVR? Mine's due this week but after reading about the horror stories I'm a bit concerned; no support anymore for 1080, only 720 ( a step back IMO not an update) a new GUI that's apparently hard to see, freezing when using iPlayer etc etc. Anyone out there who can confirm these stories and give any feedback please?

TBH, I'm more than happy with the way it works as it is. I'm not afraid of change, I welcome it but from what I've read it's totally crap.

Also, is there a way to avoid the update by unpowering the PVR during the next week or so or will I still get the update once reconnected?

Any help/ info appreciated.

Lee.

Oh yeah, it's going from WinCE, to some 'nix based version for the O/S, which explains some problems but not all.

I have had the up grade and the new set up takes a bit of time to get used to. I have not had any problems with downloading films or watching anything on demand or iplayer.

thanks for your input, John. I had the update overnight on sunday/ monday and TBH it's ****. iPlayer crashes, I can no longer use one button to enter the TV Guide ( I have to press TV Guide, that brings it up but I have to press Exit to get back to the screen) whereas before it was the same button on the remote. Othe flaws/ faults to be posted but so far, it's a 'Downdate'.

two week schedule planner now reduced to one week :wall: Even my dad's old Ferguson Videostar could be set to record two or more weeks in the future and that was back in 1985.

when pressing the yellow button (previous channel) that freezes.

This update is totally **** IMO

Turn the box off (Power at wall), turn it on and do a factory reset?

Otherwise complain to BT and tell them it's broken and see what they suggest.

I'll give it a go but as the software is now embedded on the HDD I fear it won't work. I've an old silver box that I might try and see if that works with the old O/S. If it does I might try and swap the HDD over to the new black box. How BT can call this an update is beyond me TBH.
