Hi there.

i am thinking of buying a second hand skoda octavia 2 , the car is the 1.6mpi 2005 model.

the car isn´t perfect, it has two problems i know of. , so im going to ask you if you could tell me if they are big or not.

1. the seatbelt light comes on although both seatbelts are on. Is this a easy fix? or a big problem?

2. one of the speakers in the front dosen´t work. can i change it my self? and is it a bid deal?

I am also wondering about few things.

3. the engine, the 1.6 petrol (i know it isn´t a big power house, but i think it suids me well) dose it have any known problems?

and oil change on there engines, is it 15000km? or less? and the timing belt ? are those on what? 85000km?

4. are there wires in the back doors for speakers? couse i think there aren´t any.

5. is there anything i should look into in the octavia 2 body? any spots keen to rust? or stuff like that.

thank you mates.

and as this is my first post,

im Frikki from Iceland , and i apologise for my english, not my native language. =]

nice to be a part of the forum.

Neither of the problems are a big deal probably a loose connection for the seatbelt. Does it long to warn you . Try it without sat in it then fasten the seatbelt and move the seat sharply forward and rearward to see if that makes a difference. The sensor lead sometimes breaks. The speaker do not replace straight away i take out and plug into stereo inside ( my daughters ford ka speaker wire through the door had broken I found out). You can scan with vag-com to show faults. Rust not really a problem but some have had problem with the sills .Welcome to the forum
