brake pad warning light

Featured Replies

Fitted new pads. But they didn`t have a hole to fit the brake pad sensor warning connector to. Now the light is permanently on the dash. I have an MOT due very soon. Will this light fail the MOT? Is there a way I can switch it off?

Sam

will it fail MOT?? Yes.

Fit the correct pads.

You are joking. They obviously are the correct pads because they fit...

Is there a way I can trick the ECU into thinking its ok? I`ve never had all this brake warning light nonsense on my previous cars, I used my eyes to tell if the pads were down..

Yes, make a connector between the two pins in the plug at the end of the cable. Tape it up to prevent water coming in, tie it safely out of the way. Job done.

Basically what Rob said, mine passed its MOT with the light on, I did ask the tester and he said the brakes worked fine, I didn't even get an advisory for it..

Yes you can just do as Rob says and bridge the connector but who knows your tester might find it.

The pads with the connectors on from ECP are around £20. Good quality Pagid items too. If the pads don't even have the connector then they may be very low quality.

My Brembo pads didn't have the connector.

Just because the light is on doesn't mean the brakes are unsafe.

Thanks for your help :)

My car only had a sensor on the passenger side iirc is there a chance you put the pad with the hole on the drivers side?

I've had a few sets without the wire.

You can code out the light with vcds.

I can remember the exact process but it can be done.
