June revised Fabia spec - ESC on Monte Carlo?

Featured Replies

So, as usual Skoda themselves can't make up their minds.

Does anyone here know, conclusively, whether the post-June version of the Fabia MONTE CARLO will come with ESC as standard?

It's clear from the brochure that the Fabia S, SE and Elegance DO get it, but it's not mentioned in the Monte Carlo section of the brochure.

My dealers asked their "Master technician" who was absolutely adamant that my car WOULD come with ESC.

I then asked Skoda customer services, who spoke to "Retailer Support", and said that my car WOULD NOT come with ESC.

The brochure is vague, and my experience of all things Skoda to date tells me not to trust any of them as far as I can throw them.

Anyone know any better than Skoda themselves (that seems like a weird question to ask doesn't it...).

Thanks

L

Well im going off that it is standard for the following reason...

They give you an option to add ESC plus to your vehicle ( it says ESC + HHC+TPM) but there is no option to add just ESC to the vehicle.

That was exactly my logic (and why for now I've left ESC+ off the order form) - but Skoda UK now have me worried as I definitely want at least ESC (not interested in HHC+TPM).

FWIW in case anyone else is having trouble, I've now had concrete confirmation from my dealers AND SUK that ESC is standard on ALL Fabia models from build week 22 onwards.

Had to pay extra for ESP on our MY13 62 plate which was frustrating (should have been standard from model introduction). We did however go for the Plus option, and the HHC has proved useful many times over; particularly on our trip to Switzerland.

Updated news on ESC+ (there's a rumour floating about that ESC+ gets you rear disc brakes). I've gone back and challenged them as we're getting conflicting info from SUK and dealers, so will post back if this changes:

Dear Mr xxxxxx,

Thank you for your email. Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response.

I have had confirmation that the ESC+ does not include Rear Disc Brakes. The Standard Monte Carlo features Rear Drum Brakes and the ESC + adds the features of Tyre Pressure Monitor and Hill Hold Control. It does not add Rear Disc Brakes to the vehicle.

I hope this information helps to clarify your concerns.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

About time IMO.

It's now EU law that series production cars from 2014 onwards must include some form of electronic stability control. This will just be Škoda preparing for the changes coming into effect.

All cars 'New Type Approved' since 1st November 2011 have been required to have ESP as standard.

Skoda are actually just going with the flow by fitting it as Standard to a car range on its way out.

Not a great expense to them and its shame on them that they have dragged their heals.
