Octavia running problems...

Featured Replies

Can anyone help?

A few months ago i bought an Octavia Ambient 2.0L..... its running like a bag of crap !

I have had a few little faults develope gradually... its been in the garage for a new temp sensor... and the garage cleared all the faults on the ECU - i was told there could be a problem with the air mass meter.

Since then the managment light has come on permenantly its idle is lumpy and has lost power since - i put new spark plugs in and it improved slightly..

Is it the air mass meter ?... should i replace it - ignore it.... ??

I live near glastonbury... does anyone live nearby that can plug into the ECU and tell me wot the hell is going on with it ?

Help...

If you look in the VAG-com/diagnostics area there is a threa relating to a "VAG-COM map" you may find someone near you has the ability to check the ECU

Could relate to quite a few things on the 2.0.

Air mass meter is a popular fault on that engine, along with lambda probes.

What model year is it? And does it use oil?

It is a 'Y' model... 2001 ? i think... it has started to use oil but is due a service and will have oil change etc this week.

How much oil does it use? Any blue smoke?

You need to plug into diagnostics and find out what software version your ECU has.

There doesn't appear to be any blue smoke....Unfortunatly i'm putting the miles on quickly don't want to damage the car.

Looks like its going back to the garage....

See if its got any faults relating to running lean.

The oil question may not be important, just gathering back ground info so dont panic.

Has it got a missfire at all?
