DSG Strange Problem !

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone has experienced or can advise me on the problem I had with my DSG box recently.

What occurred was that it did not change gear from 2nd upwards and I was not able to use the "manual" selection either.

The situation when it happened (the one and only time), was when I parked roadside and left the key in the ignition with my wife sitting in the car, whilst I wandered into a shop. However, there was something I wanted my wife to look at and called her whereupon she left the car. It was only when we returned to the car after about 15 minutes, that I realised that the car was unlocked with the key left in the ignition switch.

When I stared the car, and drove off I realised that there was a problem but due to traffic conditions, I was unable to stop and continued driving in 2nd for about half a mile.

After stopping, I then switched of the engine and restarted and everything went back to normal with the DSG box operating correctly.

Any comments gratefully received, thanks.

Have you had a cunning 'anti-theft / slow the bad guys down' system fitted & then forgotten about it??

Hi I've just had the exact same problem with my superb it started as a one off and only when the drivers door had been opened and closed turn off the ignition and start again all is fine 3 weeks later it happened again but twice in a day then it got more frequent then the engine management light came on diagnostic said was ecu fault found some one up north who said they could reprogram so sent it off and was told there was nothing wrong with it but after it was put back in the car I had no transmission at all just paid £2000 for new ecu megatronics to be put in 1000 miles later it happened again so I'm open for suggestions
