Removing these (not badges)

Featured Replies

Well it's the sticky pads that hold the number plates on. imo They are totally useless i managed to un screw the plates and pull them off without a struggle, and they look a mess say when I want to put a show plate on and I'm conteplating on filling the rear in.

This is what I started with:

Rear:

Front:

After a bit of White Spirit and scrubbing/scraping with a old card and to be honest it didn't do much.

Rear:

Any help please?

WD40, petrol or tardis on a rag will remove the gummy residue,

you may have to re apply a few times but it will come off.

and it wont corrupt the paint work I know it sounds daft as it's under the number plates where only been seen when swapping over etc?

as above

when you spill petrol or diesel on your car when filling up does it harm the paintwork no.

petrol is best thing to use.

What do you mean by "thinking of filling the rear in". do you mean a Full Smoothing of the rear tail gate.

(rear doors deleted as well.)

That will be needing some corrupting the paint, but could lead to a nice appearance.

AS Tardis is the best thing, get some tissue, soak the tissue in AS Tardis and then stick it to the pads your trying to remove, the longer you leave it on the easier it will be to remove :)

PS. I used to live in Rugeley many many years ago, back when the coal mine was still being used :)

I used a toffee wheel.

Hi, the simplest & most effective product I've ever used is called 'sticky stuff remover'. It's a spray gel application & comes in a yellow can. It's just sprayed on, left for a short while & then rubbed off. Worked a treat for me, absolutely no effect on paintwork & cheap! ;)
