No recall for VW's DSG

"Volkswagen UK insists it does not need to recall cars fitted with certain examples of its DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox, despite recalls in other countries. VW, Audis and Skodas fitted with seven speed DQ200 gearboxes were recalled in Australia and New Zealand after scores of owners reported loss of power when driving at speed and failures in stop-start conditions. This recall followed those in Japan, China, Singapore and Malaysia for similar problems. VW initially said the reason the UK gearboxes are not affected, despite being built in the same factory as the Australian and New Zealand ones, was due to specific climate and driving conditions.

But it has now said the "mechatronics are programmed differently according to the country in which the vehicle will be sold".

It has jointly agreed with VOSA that there is no safety issue and a recall is not needed, but anyone concerned should contact their VW dealer"

That's a load of bull....
