Radio reception weird.

Featured Replies

The radio reception on my standard set in my vRS has gone weird.

If I listen to local stations, Clyde 1, West FM, Capital or even Real Radio it works well in some areas only , but if I listen to Radio 2 or Radio 1 it is fine where ever I am.

I had thought that there might be an aerial problem but if that was the case all reception would be rubbish, so, I am a little puzzled, any ideas or suggestions guys?

aerial mount sounds kaput mine went the same

£30 from ebay and theres a technical guide on here

bbc stations have a very high gain due to the unique way they are funded

Excuse my iggerance, aerial mount?? would that be the part on the roof that the aerial mast screws into, or is it under the roof lining?

Water gets into the base of the aerial (where it is supposed to be sealed to the roof). The plastic gasket is prone to cracking,or going hard.Inside the cone shape is an aerial amplifier built on a small printed circuit, powered by voltage sent up the aerial cable from the radio.Water is a good conductor, and components ,or the track corrode away.I would look for a replacement base at a Breakers .If its condition looks good (by viewing the base condition ie no white corrosion on the aluminium cover),it will be fine. I have attached a photo
