Paint Scratch

Featured Replies

Hello!

So yesterday I was coming to my car which I left in the shopping's parking lot and I noticed some guy, with a white car for sure (because it has white residues on it), scratched my rear bumper!!! I got furious!!! I came home and I got an old cloth and started removing the white things. Despite of getting those white scratches removed (barely) I got some new micro subtle ones on the mirror/metal surface:( as you can see in the pictures:( They are not very noticeable, but they are there, although they are not noticeable by touch!

Do you think I can get these removed without getting all the bumper repainted? Will some professional polishing do the trick? I think I'm going to the car shop tomorrow, at first just to talk to them and to get relieved, or not:/

Thank you guys in advance!

I would try a polish that has an amount of filler in in.

Such as AutoGlym Super Resin Polish.

This fills in the scratches a little so the hard edges no longer catch the light and show up.

I have tried it on similar damage and it practically vanished.

Modern paint is very soft, you need to be very gentle with it.

Failing that a machine polish by a professional will remove it, but removing a very small amount of the paint leaving a smooth top coat.

Thank you very much! That is a relief. I guess when I was cleaning (next time I'll do nothing and I'll go straight to a guy that knows these things) I did it with much pressure and fury!!!

Yes you're right, I'm used to my old VW Jetta from 1991 which is like a war tank or something, and I forgot that these new paints are more sensitive to abrasive stuff:(

Nevertheless, I'll talk to the Skoda's authorized shop here, to see what they tell me. I prefer to pay a professional (if it's not to expensive of course) than to do even more damage because I don't know a thing about this stuff:(

Thank you a lot again!

I just saw your edited message now. Thank you!

I've been driving for 6 years or so, and I never touched another car (fortunately I guess)!!! And I get really furious when people don't care about the other's cars and their own!!!

Sorry to hear this... Fortunately, it looks minor damage. IF you really get sad and/or upset by seeing it there, get a pro to see what he can do. I wouldn t go tothe dealer though, i would find a good body shop that is not very expensive to repaint it. Get some offers and pick the best one to do the job

Thank you. Yes, fortunately the damage is minor indeed. But you know the feeling, new car with less than a month! Rrrrrr it's frustrating! Yes, maybe I'll talk to some guys that I know to give me, at least for now, an opinion!!! Thankl you!

I know the feeling buddy... I suppose you have no clue on who did it, right?

Doesn't look too bad. I am sure you can make it look like new again without too much trouble. I don't think you need a product with a filler in. You should try with a pure polish first.

No, I don't know:( I know that who did it didn't do it on purpose, I know that, but there's always room for caution when one is parking. We can even let it touch "bumper-with-bumper". like a tangent, if you know what I mean, but scratching? Com'on, that means you touched the other car but didn't stop!!!

This feeling will fade away eventually!:(

Thank you!

I no longer ask for perfection:( Let's see what I can do for it. Let's face it, it doesn't bother my parents, and without a close front look it's barely seen. I know I'm being perfectionist, But I think I have this right cause the car came to me with perfect paintwork!

Thank you guys for all your opinions and support. Meanwhile, if I have news I'll post them here!!!
