Strectcher bolts when replacing Cambelt

Featured Replies

Hi I am in the middle of renewing cambelt and was wondering if anyone had not replaced the strecher bolts holding the engine mount .your thoughts please.

There are plenty of threads regarding stretch bolts, they do need replacing, ignore them at your peril.

DB.

They are supposed to be replaced.

But I didn't bother replacing them on my 2.0 TDI PD Octavia when I replaced the belt last year and it's been fine. And I bet a lot of independent garages don't bother replacing the bolts either.

Skoda specify the bolts must be renewed. The three top 16mm head bolts especially on the Fabia. They are torqued iirc to 30 Nm plus 90 degrees.
