Hi can you help my car has started making a few ticking noises. One has recently just started happening. It happens when accelerating in first and when I depress the clutch to change to 2nd I get a ticking noise which seems to "get slower" as the revs decrease. This only happens when changing in to 2nd and maybe 3rd but not any other gears!?

The second problem only comes now and again, it sounds like a tappet type noise which increases with engine rpm the car has just done over 100k but has been doing this noise since about 40k and has never caused problems just gets on my nerves now and again!

Can any of you guys come up with any ideas of what it could be or had these problems befor??

I remember reading somewhere that it could be a Injector that's ticking. Mine does it sometimes but goes when it's warmed up.

One of 3 things that could be ticking in my experience:

- Alternator Clutch - Noticeable when the bonnet is lifted with engine running.

- Tappets - Remove rocker cover and check for camshaft wear

- Injectors - Use a screwdriver against your ear and place on rocker cover when the engine is running to see if you can locate the sound.

Probably not it but I have found when the oil level is not max it can make ticking noises.

Even when its like 70% on the dipstick marker.
