85k service

Featured Replies

Coming close to my next service and was just wondering if this was going to be a costly one or just an inspection one

cars running fine, no issues with the cambelt or anything, oil and fluids checked regularly and kept topped up

cambelt. was first done at around 24k, not sure if the water pump was done at the same time, it just has cambelt change written in pen in the service book, next cambelt change was at 42k

I've taken a pic of my last few so you can see what was done

Recommended Cambelt change by Skoda is 4 years or 40k for the Fabia 1. Your console bushes may also be on there way out. Nothing else I can think of!

Belt is good for 95k, i will get it checked but I don't think it needs doing just yet

my mileage will also be decreasing by at least half due to work

console bushes most likely, but mite wait until MOT time to sort those

60k or 80k depending on chassis number, never has been 40k.

The additional work box hasnt been ticked for a while so i'd say you are probably due a pollen and fuel filter. But being as they have ticked both oil filter service and inspection service in the book i'd wager they dont know what they are ticking anyhow.

I thought Skoda had retracted that and made it 4 years/40k? Or was it just that they lowered it to 4 years? I definitely recall it being lowered...

Ignore me if I'm talking crazy!

Personally I go by the following premise;

If the service book isn't completed to show cambelt, water pump, tensioners etc changed, and there is no supporting paperwork, consider it that it has NOT been done, and get them all replaced ASAP, for peace of mind.

Yes, it will cost to have it done but better that than having an engine rebuild.

Just my point of view.

Just four years, not 40k. They consider average mileage to be 20k a year normally.

If all of those things were changed, would they write it in the service book??

Its had 2 cambelt changes according to the book, first one is written in pen above the service stamp and the second one has the toothed belt ticked

I understand what you're saying but seeing as it was a Skoda dealer that did each service, surely they would have done the water pump at the same time as the cambelt

It's not mandatory to do it so no.

Some advise it, some don't.

Normally the cambelt if not ticked on a service should be stamped in the additional work section at the back.

Make sure they stamp the book the right way! :D
