Park light not working

Featured Replies

Hai my right side park light front and rear is not working , what to do ? rear bulbs have no problem but it seems both are not working at the same time , but left side front and rear have no problem only the right side

Try moving the indicator stalk to the right side when parking to see if that helps.

Your electrical specifications may be different to ours but in the UK market you get "parking lights" as follows:-

  1. Sidelights on - All 4 side and tail bulbs
  2. With engine running, sidelights off, Right indicator on. Switch off engine. Right side and tail bulbs should be lit, Left bulbs should be unlit
  3. With engine running, sidelights off, Left indicator on. Switch off engine. Left side and tail bulbs should be lit, Right bulbs should be unlit.

Any help?

I may be wrong but from the wiring diagram it looks like the parking light feature is controlled by the hazard switch/relay mounted in the centre of the dashboard.

So do you have any other intermittent issues such as flasher rate depends on battery voltage - slower rate or flashing stops altogether when waiting at the lights for example? If so, then the hazard relay is starting to fail.

Is the normal right indicator function correct or sometimes needs a second try? If so then clean up the indicator stalk switch with a contact cleaner spray.

If the indicator stalk switch is ok then I would try to substitute a borrowed hazard flasher unit first to see if that fixes the problem.

No other issue is there , this problem came when i just unpluged the front right side park bulb and refitted , this problem came after that

Try swapping over the left and right bulbs as a bulb test as this is the only thing not tried. The fuse is ok as the same supply is used for left and right hand sets of bulbs. I still suspect the hazard flasher unit if all the bulbs test out ok.

Incidentally, on mine the parking lights come on anytime I move the indicator arm left or right with the ignition key out. This also causes the buzzer to sound when the drivers door is open as a reminder. Try these as a check and report back.

I just change the left side bulb to right and right side bulb to left , but its working . i think there is a specific fuse for right side front and rear park light

There are only separate fuses for the normal operation of the side lights. Check fuse 22 (RH) and fuse 21 (LH) for the side lights but these should be ok as you did not mention failure of normal sidelight operation via the lighting switch.

The parking light function is a separate supply from a dedicated contact on the direction indicator stalk. As the left side parking light and buzzer are working, it more and more looks like a faulty contact on the indicator arm. With the ignition switch off, a supply is take to the central contact of a change over switch operated by the indicator arm. As it operates correctly when you move the indicator arm to the left but the same switch does not work when you move the arm to the right, it can only be one of two things 1) the contact is worn and not making when moved right or 2) a poor connection/broken wire on the multi-pin connector to the indicator stalk (pin 10?).

Others have reported problems with the indicator arm contacts and have cured the problem by spraying the contacts with contact cleaner. I suggest this is the next step. I believe it is not necessary to get close to the contacts, just spray in the obvious places and then work the switch back and forth to help clean the contact. If the parking light function is rarely used, a dirty/corroded contact is more possible in a hot and humid city such as yours.

Thanks brother , hey on normal headlight using time also right side front and rear is not working , so that means the 22h fuse is out right ? :)
