Hi there,

are there any IT techs on here with any experience of supporting GARAGEBase Pro at all?.

If so I need a little help for my friend in transferring the database from his existing dying laptop to his new desktop.

I have tried their website, but it isn't the most helpful one in this world.

Many thanks in advance.

Phil.

Looks like a very small company, i would bet its a single developer!

Best bet is probably email them and just ask how you back up the database.

Thanks for the reply, have sent them an email tonight, so we'll see what comes of it.

Do you know what the DB is running on? For example SQL?

SQL isn't a database, its a method of accessing and manipulating data from a database. Just sayin...

Ok - Will reword it - A SQL Database?

Better?  :hi:

I am using this next time I encounter banter in the office! Brilliant lol

Nerd fight .....

Reading the site it is talking about storing the data on a server and mapping drives - which would suggest that it isn't a client server based SQL Database.

This may be relevant from their website :-

  • If you are using any of the above you can upgrade to GB Pro or GB Pro Lite. There is a limited learning curve on how GB Pro works compared to your existing software, so you won’t have to learn how it works, you will then have all the benefits of our latest software and all your current data. V2.13 upwards does not use a dongle/hasp, so you will exchange your dongle/ hasp for an activation code. When using an activation code, if you need to change PC's at some time in the future then to move the ACT licence is free if within your support period and if you are out of support then there is an admin fee to move the ACT licence. This is currently (21 March 2013) £50 + VAT
