Now there is a suprise!

Featured Replies

I am now seeing more Mk3 octavias compared to mk7 Golfs, there is 2 new octavia local to me, a blue and a white one (the white one is a taxi) and i have only seen 1 new golf, but then again the rear of the new Golf is appalling makes the back of the hatch superb look lovely

Interesting. I have yet to see a mk3 on the road in this country and I did see 2 Danish Estates at Le Mans but no hatchbacks yet. It's strange as the area to be quite a few round Southampton and Portsmouth

I live between the two towns in Locks Heath & I've seen at least 4 or 5(in various colours). There is a dealer not too far from so they could be demo cars but i've noticed them around more in the last few weeks.

I saw a modern Skoda coming towards me yesterday, and I really have no idea whether it was a Rapid or an Octavia, so if anyone has a simple clue that I could use, please share.  And I can differentiate between cars generally - hell, I can even tell the difference between Audis!!

Simply put, if it has 'bodywork' between the front grill and headlight units its an Octavia. If it doesnt and the grill sits against the headlamp units with no body colour between them, its a Rapid.

The shape of the rear lights also differs. At RAPID the upper line of the lights follows the line of the body, whilst at OCTAVIA the two lines are almost parallel and they have sharp angles.

Thanks both.  Maybe I need to print out some images of both cars, front and rear, and glue them to my sun visor for easy quick reference :giggle:

So looking for painted nostrils us the key - the bigger car has room for the painted nostrils.

...and the Octy also has reflectors in the rear bumper, Rapid does not.

Thanks Matt - and I found out today that I get my car tomorrow    It seemed to take a very long time to get from the UK port to the supplying dealer, and they are delivering tomorrow.  Shame I am out all day and then straight out for a boozy evening.  Won't get to drive it until Saturday :wonder:
