I've got my motor back!

Featured Replies

After just short of a month away, the Octy is back with me after some intensive fettling. Without going too far into what's been done, it has a new managment unit, bigger injectors and a new diff.

There are a few minor bits to be ironed out, but essentially, the overall result is something along the lines of:

:D:rofl::):D:thumbup:;):D

Recommendation to fellow Briskodians: Anyone who has tuned their car somewhat to date and is thinking what next, I would recommend upgrading the diff (relatively cheap - compared to big turbos etc). The difference is amazing.

I'm sure we all like to boot the accelerator in 2nd out of an rounabout. Before the new diff I would do this by taking a tight line at first because I knew the car would drift to the outside by the time the road straightens. Tried this with the new diff and I had to correct because the front held its line to the extent that that I was nearly rubbing door mirrors with the traffic on the inside lane. An expectional difference. (oh I have had new tyres too, but this reduction in understeer cannot be simply new rubber).

Don't know what power figures I have now, but the car is supremely quick in 2nd and third. But would it keep up with the Black Beast of DaveU????

:D

How much would a differential cost? You're talking about the gear diff right?

Yes, kept the O2J 5sp box, work was done by TSR Performance across in Bridgewater, Somerset.

Ooooh, heard of TSR - yet to see any of their work though.

They're a veedub specialist no? Sounds like some good work though. Reckon you're pushing close to 275? I thought TSR had a rolling road so thought you'd have had a go on it. ;)

Yes, VW specialists and obviously that includes Seat and Skoda these days. Yes they have a rolling road, car was put on when it arrived and was producing about 210-220 at the wheels. I didn't see it back on the rolling road when I picked it up - too little time on Saturday just gone.

Used TSR with my Subaru & was pleased albeit that was some years ago when Tim Stiles was still running it,

I have always heard good reports & dont doubt they are as good as ever.

Have they still got the Passat with a diesel badge on the back that goes like !!!!!!

Can you PM me what theyve done to the motor & what it cost please unless its a trade secret !! If it is I will have to ring them & ask
