de-spoilering

Featured Replies

I'm sure I saw a topic about this a few weeks back, but search doesn't seem to find the one I'm looking for (tho I am on a mobile so it is a bit more awkward)

Anyway I'm considering removing the rear spoiler on my vrs and fitting one of the lip style ones. I believe it has 4 bolts n is bonded but comes off without to much trouble. What I wanna know is anyone done it, got pictures? Did they smooth the holes or just gromet them?

I had my spoiler off a few weeks back fir painting. From what ive seen is reativley easy.

I took mine off last weekend so it can be repainted, it's 4 bolts to remove and there is some silicone which, depending on how effective it still is, may require separating. It was just about holding mine on and came off without too much effort. If you're fitting the lip spoiler from the Sport, you might need to fill the holes in the bootlid depending on the fixings of the new one.

If you do go ahead with it - let me know I'm in the market for a vrs spoiler

I think the small spoiler looks great, or even better - no spoiler :)

Or even better - a BIG one :)

Where you getting the Sport one from?

I keep an eye out for them as I think it's looks just right, but they're either not available, or an extortionate amount of money....

Is it necessary to reapply silicon on the refitting?

Wardy this is the sort of thing im considering, really have a thing for this style of spoiler. Kinda feelin the spoiler is what makes the vrs special and different from the standard octavia at the rear so considering going for a vrs+ diffuser along with this spoiler to give it that little difference. Just not to sure yet :wall:

Either that or i'm gonna get ...

Harry, each to their own but imo opinion that spoiler makes me feel a bit queezy  :giggle:  I know you like it just not my thing!

Doubt il sell the original one right away but i if i decide to go down the road of smoothed boot lid il let u know first lexxor.

Cheers for the help guys!

Yeah that's the proper Skoda one from the Sport. Just don't really think it's worth the €140 cost, plus shipping.

Right so this came standard on a sport model then? If so may be worth trying to find one being broken I'd guess?

Yes it did. Good luck with the breakers as I've had no success so far. Not that many about, relatively. Or nobody's crashed or broken many! :)

Have you tried madmotors.co.uk , think they have this and something similar too .

I would if only to stop water getting under and in through the screw holes.
