Hello folks. I've had my vRS for just over a week and have noticed that all four tyres are losing pressure. I've had to blow them up a couple of times in the space of a week. The tyres are quite old but still legal. I was planning on replacing them EVENTUALLY but not this soon. Any thoughts on what is could be the issue? I can't believe I've got four punctures, could they be leaking round the rims or the valves? The car has FSH(Inc. recent cambelt + water pump) and is mechanically sound but had clearly been standing and not used much for the last year or so.

Next issue, which is my own fault. I tried to loosen off the nearside front indicator tonight so I could clean in between it and the headlight as muck has gathered there and it doesn't look good. Unfortunately I was a bit too enthusiastic and I've snapped a black plastic bracket off from the back or underside of the indicator unit. The indicator went back on and seems secure in place with just the screw on the top, but will it start to move around when I'm driving?

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Probably leaking around the rims.Squirt some Fairy liquid around the tyre/rim seal and ride a very short distance with slightly deflated tyres then pump to required pressure. I use that regularly on small tractor tyres with good results. Use Fairy again to check valves and valve seats - if it bubbles it's leaking !. Good luck.

define slightly deflated...

I didnt know that about the fairly liquid, might give it a go just for shizzle!

also, if the car was sitting for a long time, you might want to check the side walls for perishing.

esp if they were sitting on it during the last cold winter...

id say you should be alright with the indicator, but you'll notice fairly soon if you can hear it rattling.

Just give the screw a good tighten down and it shouldn't move.

Both my old front tyres used to slowly deflate over time, when the tyres were changed the chap cleaned the corrosion from the wheel where the bead sits and they've been fine since.

Thanks for the advice all. I had the tyres looked at, one had a nail in it and they couldn't find any problems with the others. They fixed the puncture and sealed round the rims and put new valves in all four, so far so good. I've screwed the indicator firmly in place and its not moving and I can't hear anything when I'm driving so happy days.

Good news, fingers crossed you don't go flat.
