Air Con - can you live without it?

Featured Replies

In the past I've scared myself with DPF scare stories and never had any issue.

I'm now wondering about Air Con. If the compressor goes (out of warranty), can you just disconnect it physically and electrically and continue without it old skool style?

I guess there might be some VCDS work to "ignore" it, but if mine ever packs in I'm tempted to go down this route as I have a sun roof anyway.

Just curious and hope it never happens, but thought I'd ask...

If the compressor breaks internally like mine did, it just doesn't work. Ignore it and carry on, though I found leaving it set to auto meant it put out warmer air then when on econ.

runined AC in my Civic as I hardly used it. Octavia is set to auto so it's always on and there is no chance that I will wreck the hoses / joints
