Flashing Glow Plug Light

Featured Replies

My glow plug light started flashing about 30 minutes into a journey today. It stayed on until I stopped. When I turned the engine off and on again it no longer flashed. According to the manual I should get it checked. I am on holiday at the moment and there is no dealer any where round about. I need to get a ferry as I am on the west coast of Scotland.

Is this something serious or something that can wait until I get home on Saturday?

Thanks,

Paul

I'll put my neck on the line and say wait.

My dad had this on his 1.6tdi Fabia, Turned out to be a faulty EGR sensor.

Which island? There may be a competent local garage.

Not an island. At Dunoon but Skoda web site tells me that nearest dealer is Paisley. The car is 2 months old so in warranty so I don't want to pay an independent.

Had this on my Fabia Greenline.

It's a minor engine fault, such as EGR etc...

The car should be OK until you get back, but it won't be running as efficiently.

If it's more serious the engine light will come on... that means get it to the garage pronto.

Thanks. I'll get onto the dealer when I get back and get it booked in.

I don't know anyone around there.

It turned out the problem was the number 3 temperature sensor in the exhaust.  It has now been replaced.
