battery relocation

Featured Replies

I have relocated the battery into the wheel well. I have used the original ground wire and earthed it to two points in the boot. Everything seems to work dash comes on and stereo but the starter wont even attempt to turn. Any idea's?

Is there not usually an earth strap direct from the battery to the engine to provide an earth for the engine and sub components such as starter? Engine may not be earthed through the mounts etc. try a strap between engine and a bodywork earth point and see if that generates any starter action.

What did you do with the fuse box on top of the battery? Reckon it's something to do with that

That is connected to the positive wire from the battery

What cable are you using ??

It won't start because there is no earth cable from engine to body

That's exactly what I said :-)

I'd still like to know why you've moved the battery?

 LOL!

Have you moved the battery fusebox, and restored the heavy duty cables from engine and starter motor to battery?

I've been unable to find documentary evidence, but my memory says that the starter draws something like 20A.

Also, is the battery physically secure in its new location? It's a MOT (or scrutineering if this is now a pure track car) fail if it isn't.
