Hi,

I will be doing my roll bar bushes on my VRS in the near future, and I have been looking at my standard bar, which appears to have lost the plastic inserts, so has no stops for the bush,(you were right Luca), and is knocking like mad.

I am going to eventually fit 17mm bushes, but my question is this to those that have already done this job - what do you use as stops for the bush, if the plastic bush has disintegrated or been removed?.

Sorry if this is an obvious stupid question, just don't want to start it without having all the kit to complete the job first.

The bar has the collars on anyhow!

They are independang of the plastic sleeves

And you are correct with the 17mm bush for the unsleeved 19mm arb

This was the standard bush (stretched over time but originally 17mm)

Chisel the sleeves off, clean up bar with sandpaper as probably corroded, grease bar to stop further corrosion and fit 17mm bushes and newer style brackets with the groove in.

 

Job done?

Can't seem to see that collar at the moment, but it may have moved into the bush on the side I was looking as it felt smooth up to the bush on either side of it. I was in a bit of a hurry so did not really look properly, will probably find out when the bushes come off. I already have new clamps, standard bolts, and have a couple of longer bolts to pull the clamp in.

The collars are on the internal side so only seen from behind

I have run my fingers round both sides of the bush, all I can feel is the constant diameter of the roll bar, cannot feel the stop in your piccies. The bush is quite worn, so it is quite possible it has moved over a few mm and is now inside the bush itself.
