handbrake button rattle

Featured Replies

Ive sourced a rattle coming from the handbrake button, its stops as soon as you touch the button, any ideas on how to stop this?

Yep. I got hold of some self adhesive velcro (the wooly side as opposed to the spiney side), and cut off a small piece. With a tweezers, I slotted the velcro piece into the gap between the underside of the button (so it cant be seen) and the plastic surround, tucking in the excess into the gap. The button doesn't rattle anymore!

I have heard of some people on here bringing the problem to the attention of the dealers, and having the handbrake assembly replaced (if it's under warranty). I couldn't be bothered with all that, and it was an easy fix.

NB: If you look at the bottom of this page you will see a few others have had similar problems (see similar threads section below).

I noticed the previous owner of ours had wedged a tiny piece of paper in there, I thought, hmm thats strange and removed it - guess what.............. !!

Its going in to the dealer for the Hazard switch/flasher unit so I might get them to have a look. How long does it take them to change the whole handbrake?
