no boost

Featured Replies

Recently changed turbo as old one died but not getting full kick on boost but if i feather the throttle it boosts better replaced cts nd slightly better but still not upto scratch nd no fault codes stored so any ideas please

Check all the boost & vacuum pipes for splits, especially the ones under & around the black inlet manifold plate.

Also you could try unplugging the MAF sensor if runs better then the MAF is goosed, if makes know difference then the MAF is ok. Always worth checking the MAF as it's a really common failure, & only throws a code if its shorted to ground or gone become intermitent However if the problem has only appeared after turbo replacement I'd suspect a boost leak somewhere.

Ive checked all hoses i can see nd tht ive touched cant really tell if it is maf tried it but unsure iif it is better or not goin to be fitting boost gauge to see wa it says but i fitted a k03-053 instead of 052 but all i can see tht is diff is ones silenced and other aint

Can't say myself but someone pointed out in your other thread that you have fitted a 150 turbo rather than a 180.

I'd imagine the problem is related to that in some way.

On another note if you haven't already then replace your oil pick up pipe as partial clogging may have caused your first turbo failure.

Yeah agreed. 150 & 180 turbo do not share the same mapping.

A visit to Chris Hughes at Total Tuning in Pontypridd should sort you out.

Were about is total tuning in ponty mate im only up the rd in porth and im getting mixed oppinions about this turbo as some say its off a 150 but others say they both the same other than one is silenced and other not im really stuck

Behind B and Q past auto parts.

I'm in Cardiff if you need VCDS we could run some logs and try and see whats happening under boost.

You are getting incorrect information there. They have different compressors & the K03 has 12 blade turbine whereas the K03s is an 8 blade IIRC.

ECU is mapped specifically for eack tubo so you do need to get the correct map for your set up. Sure Chris can help you out, but he's a busy guy. Turn off at the B&Q turn off & turn down the road auto parts is on & Chris is in the last unit on the right before the road bollards. I'll pm you his mobile.

BTW VAG don't call the 180 turbo K03s.

i.e.

K03-052 180 hp.

K03-053 150 hp.

K03-058 150 hp/180hp.

150bhp turbo has been fitted

You need to get a k03 052 version or you will always be down on power even mapped

Do you have vcds to do the tests needed?
