Love Affair with My 2006 Octavia At Breaking Point

Featured Replies

I have had many things replaced on my car under warranty after seeing so many owners having very similar issues.

The very latest is my air conditioning which appears to be going the same way as many others.

About three weeks ago I had an independent air con specialist who 're gassed it after checking to make sure there was no leakage. It had been running great until a couple of days ago. Now I get the noise, far from cool air etc.....

Before I contact Skoda and have yet another moan, am I better off going back to the place that re gassed it to get them to look at it for confirmation of the problem or too my nearest skoda dealer?

Cheers

Is it still in warranty?

If so take it straight back to Skoda, although they may try and claim that having it regassed outside of the dealer network has voided the warranty...

It's a 2006 Elegance and almost 7 years old. Up until this year, I had everything done at Skoda.

Whats the noise you get from the aircon mate ???

The noise is like a whistling/whining noise which was there before I had it regassed and was why it was checked for leaks. When it was done the noise had gone and it was lovely and cold again.

I have a rattle on my engine and it sounds like a diesel and was thinking aircon pump as mine doesnt work

I can't do anything for a week or so as I'm going away and because I have no climate control we have to use my Mrs' car which is smaller.

I'm just very annoyed that all these big problems are very common and must surely be known to skoda and is why I will seek their help. There is enough proof that shows we are driving cars that seem ticking timebombs.

I have a 2006 1.6 FSI estate my air con has gone up the swannee as well this week, noticed when I switched it on and nothing and after asking around from the sounds of it aircon pump may have gone.  Ive had the car less than 12 months already had issues with the rear wiper motor and now this - any ideas on prices to have the thing fixed?

The car was purchased with a full Skoda main dealer service history took it to an independent back street place about a month ago who uncovered a load of things that had never been done, wheels never been off, brakes never adjusted, pollen filter never changed in the history of the car so in other words a main dealer service history means nothing

Must admit my mk2 vrs aint a patch on my mk1 for reliability but its so much nicer to drive imo
