Fabia 1.2 TSI oil leakage and hesitations when braking

Featured Replies

Today when i popped the hood i noticed that i have some oil seeping out from the cam chain cover on the left side of the engine.

It is not very much but still i would have thought a new car came without oil leakage even though it is a small one?

See the picture on how it looks.

I have also noticed a some oil around the "valve" on the intake that seems to have been pushed out around the valve. Not as much as in the picture of the cam chain cover though.

Is there someone else that have noticed this kind of oil leakage on their 1.2 TSI engines? Would it be considerd normal or is it something that i should visit the dealer for?

I've also noticed that when i press the brake pedal all the way down under heavy braking there is something like a hesitation before the pressure is applied. Almost as if there was a delay of something <1second. But still enough for me to feel that first nothing is happening and THEN the brakes are applied.

Is this something that all Fabia's have as a "feature"?

My car is a 1.2 TSI 86hp, 2013 year model. It have done about 7800miles.

I wouldn't be happy with oil seeping like that. As for the brakes that doesn't sound right either. I'd have it checked out. Good luck.

Gha.. I dont really want to go in another time.. Ive already been in to many times to do some minor warranty work.

Thanks for your reply though.

I will wash the engine tomorrow and see how much/fast new oil adds up.

More feedback would also be appreciated, if you have a 1.2 TSI and seen the same leakage or have any thoughts about it.

Had this type of leak with the chain cover on our previous 2010 TSI 85; mind it was two years old and 18k when I first noticed it. If its just very minor I'd leave it to fixed at service.

Brakes then no, no problems as discribed. Again with the previous car the HHC stopped working for a week but cured itself before I got to the dealer; never happened again either :wonder:

Best drop the car off at the Dealership and collect a courtesy car.

Tell them to contact you when they have the car performing as a new car should.

Or wnen they have a new car ready to collect.

Cars should keep water out & engine oil & coolant in,

Should start and stop and brake when the driver requires them to.

A visit once a year for a car to get serviced is pretty much universally expected in 2013.

Your car sadly is just a wrong yin.

As to Brake Assist, ABS and the likes, best read up on it.

Maybe take a Demonstrator or used car out for a road test and see how it behaves to compare with your car.

I agree with The Plumber, the oil leak is minor and will not cause problems and it will be fine to leave it until next service if you wish, but personally I would be taking a new car back and having these things done as George recommends.

I had a Merc 190E 2.6 many years back and they were noted for a similar leak, it was an older car and as the repair was costly I just left it and kept washing the engine! It never even lowered the level on the dipstick.

Thanks for all of your feedback.

Today i removed the oil and i will now keep an eye on it and see if there is a leak and how long it takes before it gets visible.

Regarding the brakes i will try some more heavy braking and also try to have a friend of mine drive the car and see what he thinks of it.

The brakes aren't as responsive as the citigo I had last week, there feels like a dead spot in the braking before you get full bite, is this similar to what you are experiencing?
