went to use my netbook tonight on my 04 Fabia VRS, VCDS lite, with an aftermarket, but good quality lead, and it wouldn't/couldn't communicate with the engine module, 

it would find other modules i.e. ABS and air bags, so no obvious apparent reason for no comms to the engine, 

the lead and VCDS was deffo working and communicating with all modules last year as i had to scan for a flashing engine light (brake switch fault)

so any ideas would be helpful please,

 

P.S. the issue i was scanning for was that the temperature gauge was fluctuating if this helps

I did try my lead and net book on another VRS, still no comms with the engine module, which sort of tells me my lead is dodgy, but how/why would it read other modules if this is the case ?
