Rear parking sensor help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First time post having just got a 2005 Octavia estate.

Bit confused as to what the issue is with the rear PDC. I select reverse and notice the display on the radio show the image of the car. When I reverse near to an object I see the graduated bars appear as they should, but get no audible tone at all. The image also momentarily flicks back onto the radio display before returning back to the vehicle image.

Radio settings for the PDC checked and are set up ok.

As I understand I should get a beep when the car goes into reverse and likewise as you near an object!

The sensors all click away nicely, not checked the control unit yet though, or the PDC speaker in the B pillar. Other than hooking it up to diagnostic kit, anyone any ideas to fix it.

Sounds like the speaker has had it if the sensors are clicking. I have a fault with mine and I think I will be replacing the lot when I get back from my holiday.

Your information is correct and I agree with the previous post. It does sound like the speaker ( or wiring to speaker) is dodgy.

I'd get a VCDS scan done before you start ripping trim out or buying spares. This may reveal the fault for you.

Did you get to the bottom of this. Mine is not giving a sound output from the radio. Can see the display and you can hear the beeps from the unit in the back just not very loudly.

No sound is made by the radio or by their speakers. The only option there is to adjust the level of muting of music when the sensors are activated.

The PDC speaker is located in the lower B-pillar (rear sensors) or above the steering column (front sensors). Both emit different tones.

Some cars (early ones?) had just one speaker (B-pillar) emit both times.

However...

The volume and pitch can be adjusted with VCDS (and Maxidot?) and it may be that, if it works but is quiet, then the vine has been 'turned down'.
