Shame, an UP! GT based Citigo would have been a real hoot.

They're apparently testing the turbo 3 cyl engine in the Taigun,which is based on the UP .

Surely gotta use it in something a bit tastey? :yes:

The up gt was due 2013 but its been quiet since the prototypes were driven by the mags. No one has any news...

I'd be interested what the economy would really be like on the GT. Would it negate my need to buy a Citigo in the first place.

VW won't let 'em is what he's saying. VW don't want to be outdone by it's 'lesser' marques in essence.

As I've been saying since it was released...

 

Autocar have the up! GT in for a "winter" release.

As far as I know the Up! GT is being launched at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

I genuinely believe there is no "VW won't let 'em!" attitude going on with the VAG companies. I think a more rational attitude is to believe that the various group companies work to provide vehicles to a set of core values. Bean counting definitely comes in to things more with the Skoda brand, as the quote above admits - and conversely, the premium of the VW badge allows for those niche models. It seems to me that the Fabia vRS mainly exists for what it provides for brand image - and a Rapid, or Citigo vRS would do nothing to enhance that.

The articles doesn't say it won't happen.

 

Just corporate waffle really, things may change.
