driver door not locking!

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a skoda fabia classic which is a dream to drive.

however there are several concerns I have with the car, 1: the driver side door doesn't lock with the key or when the lock is pushed down from inside. when the lock is pushed down from inside the car it just seems to not lock in place. 2: the engine seems to cut out when stationary, the revs would fluctuate and the engine would just cut out.

I have read through a few articles but cant seem to find anything which seems to relate to my problems. I also contacted a mechanic who said the lock problem may be due to the door lock barrell being loose or broken.

can someone please tell me whats up with my car!
