Fixed Price servicing - exclusions?

Featured Replies

When I bought the Octy I included the three year pay per month service agreement. When this ran out they offered me a 2 year deal. It's in today for service 2 and they have rung me to say that it needs brake fluid change, which they will include, and coolant change, which they won't.

Is it me, or does this seem odd?

Nothing surprises me about dealers.

AFAIK G12+(+) coolant only needs to be checked (level and strength) but never changed, unless its had to be drained for changing something or someone has compromised it by adding some random aftermarket stuff.

Ask them why they want to change the coolant - is it on the official service schedule?

I have had a look at my car's Service Schedule - which is common to the Superb, Octavia and Yeti - and the only specific mention of coolant is as follows:

Every 60 000 km or after 4 years (whichever comes first)

Inspect antifreeze protection of coolant and cooling system for leaks. Inspect coolant level, top up the coolant if necessary.

Thanks Guys!! That's the problem with leaving the service books in the car. I will certainly challenge them now. It's also occurred to me that it might have been time to change the Haldex oil!! I wonder???

Haldex is every 40,000 miles.

Most dealers don't do it as they aren't aware of their own cars service requirements.

I bet there are more 4x4 Octavia's out there on the original Haldex oil (and filter where fitted) than there are with freash oil every 40K!
