6 month (ish) update on the Blackline

Featured Replies

So, thought I'd post a quick note after nearly 6months with the Blackline.

14,100 miles and counting! Still love the car (which was inevitable as I traded in my 08 plate VRS PD against it!)

MPG is fantastic and still improving, great fun to drive, and despite my reservations over the Black wheels it does look great when its clean!

That said the last couple of weeks have presented a few niggles. Rear wiper suddenly decided that I wasn't responsible enough to chose when to activate it - resulting in one wipe to celebrate me starting the engine, and then a selection of random 'half wipes' all of which left the wiper half way across the windscreen until I switched off the engine, when it would return to its rightful home.

Then in the week before I actually remembered to call WhiteDove in Cardiff to get it sorted, I noticed (read couldn't help but notice) an alarming amount of road noise at 70-80mph. So cue another week before I get off my a55 and call the dealer. Wiper motor ordered, and planned investigation for the noise!

Today was the day for the warranty work, wiper completed and noise diagnosed as both front wheel bearings!! One replaced, but second is on order to be sorted later this week.

WhiteDove have been really helpful and more than efficient just hoping this isn't a sign of things to come!

Not massive issues, but still more than I had in over 100k in my pre fl.....

My guess would be a bad batch of wheel bearings. The Octavia II isn't known for wheel bearing issues, and neither is the myriad of other VAG cars that use the exact same bearings.

I knew it wasn't a known issue, so like you said, I'm chalking it up to one off for now. I actually thought it might have been an alignment issue to be honest.

Hasn't marred my opinion of the car, just wanted to mention it !
