glow plug system light on

Featured Replies

Went to start the car today and its did not go out, the tempreture is 24 degreee here aswell. Any pointers on what to check please

Not go out, or is on flashing?  VCDS should tell you why it's stayed on although I've only ever known it to flash - usually when the brake light switch behind the brake pedal has given up.  First step, check brake lights are coming on. :)

Yeah it is flashing. Brake lights work fine, I plugged a diagnostic device in and came up with errors 16705 and 18043, turned them off (erased) and took the car round the block. Stopped and started and nothing has come back, if it was serious would it have come back on already?

16705 id suggesting crank sensor I think

The problem has come back today :( what shoukd I do change the sensors? Or will the timing be out?

Code 16705 is the crankshaft sensor.  Check:

  • the air gap
  • metal particles on the sensor
  • insecure sensor or rotor
  • wiring
  • the sensor

Code 18043 is CAN data bus, air con - no signal. Check:

  • air con module trouble codes
  • wiring
  • matching resistor in ECM (??? that's what the book says)

Good luck

Cars going in on tuesday, going to have both sensor's replaced abd timing rechecked lol. Then if it still plays up its got to be wiring, it was fine untill the engine was jet washed then the next day it gots the fault. I think its the water but never know
