Can't sell my mk2 fabia 1.2

Featured Replies

As per the title ...

Been on eBay and not a sniff.

I've put it up for £3400 after buying it from a Skoda main dealer 12 months ago for £4995. The dealer offered me £2900 which I said no to but I'm starting to thing I've really lost that much money!!!

Mine is the 3rd cheapest on eBay right now but does anyone know what I should hope for?

It's got 8 months mot and tax, clean and tidy . 2007 11/12/2007 reg.

Any advise would be really appreciated from anyone .

Just a standard car really so I never bothered to push it on here.

My tdi replacement is here so it's just on the drive doing nothing...post-104089-13746970419035_thumb.jpg

As you are not a FREEDOM member I'm guessing you have not tried to sell it on here?

To do that you need to pay £12 for FREEDOM membership first. :)

Whatever the dealer sold it for, it was probably worth £500 or so less anyway at the time.

They have to earn a living and you pay a premium when you buy from a dealer rather than privately.

If you take off £500-£800 it's not actually devalued that much.  £20-odd per week, for a fully functioning six year old car.

Ah ok, didn't know that.

Any advise other than that, is it price / market / or just the car in anyone's opinion ?

Realistically it's probably worth about £3,250 (note: in my opinion!) which makes it a decent runaround for someone.

If hte dealer is offering £2,900 they'll probably put it back up on sale for around £3,750.

It's a low spec model (no alloys so I'm guessing) with the basic engine.

So you are looking for someone that just wants something to potter about in.

Right before the summer holidays a lot of people don't have spare cash to be spending on a 2nd family car.

Nice one BossFox ill drop the cash on it a bit then and play the waiting game.

Glad I asked the question.

And yeah your right it's entry level, just central locks and lecy windows .

Not saying sell it to them,

but out of interest, what is 'We buy any car', showing for what they would give.?

Is it £400 more or so than the Dealer has offered?

£2785 from WBAC . But when you turn up they will knock me I'm sure and it's just way too cheap at that.

I keep looking at my sales invoice for £4995 lol killing me...

Yeah non aircon which is the only reason I'm selling it, we've just had a baby (7weeks) and its been way to hot for him in the Fab2.

Gutted really...

I think we just found your problem.

Surely not every one want's air con. Old people are scared of it I think so maybe wait for a Bus Pass person to come along .

My Dad doesn't like it...

Ill park it outside the local home lol.

Many Dealers & Salespeople are making easy money now,

the check they make might not be to Special person with knowledge,

They check WBAC and know they can shift it quick and pocket some money.

You do not always get screwed down by WBAC, and if someone has a car nobody else wants that is sometimes the only answer.

12 months older and now over 6 years old and you need to find a buyer wanting just what it is that you are selling,

there is always a buyer someplace.

What is the 'Asking Price' for identical cars privately on

http://www.autotrader.co.uk

In your part of the world.

Sorry if i missed it in the thread.

?How many miles has it done, and how many registered keepers?

george

Its a nice car, wouldnt have minded doing a deal with my fabia lol.

Local cars in Northampton are £3800-£4200 ( non skoda dealer at £4300) that's why I can't sus out the lack of interest .

wrong car at the wrong time of year really as already mentioned by BossFox. Want a soft top? Buy in the winter. Want A/C? Buy in the winter. Want to sell a car without A/C? Sell in the winter.

Your right.

Ill whip the tax off it and park it at work till this Sun buggers off :-)

Thanks everyone !

Is that the asking prices.

That only matters if they are getting them sold, sitting advertised means nothing they are the same as yours, 'For sale'.

£3500 Asking price seems to be kind of where it is at for 57/08.

So thats just an Asking Price.

So how many miles on your car?

Do you have someplace to put it off the road & on SORN, and can you still keep insurance running on it?

£2900 seems like the best deal if the Dealer will still give you that.

I can assure you, they don't come much older than me mate, I've been a "Bus Pass person" as you call us for years and proud of it and I wouldn't touch a car without aircon. Us 'oldies' have a bit more about us than you appear to give credit for.

Lots of advice there which makes it sound as if you have a car which no one will ever want to buy but I reckon your problem is in the first line of your first post.

Get it on Autotrader.

You will only sell it if someone who is interested sees the advert.

I've sold a few cars over the years and advertised on Autotrader, Pistonheads and Gumtree.

The performance stuff (Lotii, 6-cylinder BMWs) got lots of interest on Pistonheads but normal run of the mill stuff only got interest from Autotrader.

The type of person who wants to buy a basic-ish Fabia will more than likely look on Autotrader and not much else.

There is a reason why they can get away with charging three or four times what other advertisers charge........
