Random Loose Wire

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the wire was for in the picture below? It's cable-tied to the support bar across the engine bay, and goes into the "cockpit" somewhere behind the steering column. I think its for my airbag but I'm not entirely sure.

My airbag light has been on since Thursday night. I changed the ignition barrel and steering lock and ever since then the airbag warning light has been on. I disconnected the battery to do it, so I'm thinking that I've disconnected the wire from something subconsciously and then not put it back on. - would this be why the light's on?

I've looked around and there's a great deal of talk about the computer needing a reset/clear out of its fault codes to clear the warning light. Is this a garage job, and does anyone know how much it will (roughly) cost to get it done?

Thanks a bunch :)

Thats obviously not Skoda wiring and has been added at some point, possibly for an amplifier.

Id say it has come off the battery (as its red id say its a live feed for something) doubt its anything to do with the air bag, only way to be sure is to trace the wire into the car & see what its connected to,the warning light for the airbag may be on because you have distrurbed the wiring or a connector when you did the ignition switch & may just require the light resetting.

Normally if the battery is disconnected on the Felicia it will flag a low voltage fault on the airbag system, this will have to be cleared. Check the VCDS map for a local member who can clear it for you.

Ok, thanks guys. Think I'll just drop it into a garage - it needs a service anyway so might as well negotiate that whilst I'm there too. Thanks for the help.

That looks like a heavy-duty feed wire, probably for a big amplifier or sub-woofer.

Us ICE guys wouldn't call that a heavy-duty cable  doesn't look like it is fused - so do not connect it. Does look like someone may have added a feed for something - could be a phone kit or something.
