No parking sensors working?

Featured Replies

I have a 2005 octavia 2.0tdi, with front and rear parking sensors which do not work at all, the parking sensor flashes near the climate control control and I get no beeps or view on the stereo screen, any ideas would be really appreciated

A flashing light on the switch normally indicates a fault.

If you can I would get the car hooked up to VCDS to check for any errors.

Would I need to go to a dealer to hook it up to vcds?

Check the map in the VCDS section for a member with it near to you.

See the other thread here on l&k parking sensors for a possible cause, but worth a scan rather than speculating as there are lots of potential things that can cause this behaviour.

As Adam says, lots of possible problems.

Try activating the sensors (press button or put in reverse) and listen closely to each sensor for a faint clicking.

If its not clicking, then there is a duff sensor.

If a whole bumper isn't working or a pair on the rear bumper aren't working, then it's possibly a wiring fault / broken wire.

A scan with VCDS will point you in the right direction as well.

Thanks for your help, hopefully I can get it sorted with out spending a fortune

very common for the sensors to fail. i had two replaced on mine to get them working again.

do you get a long tone when you put the car into reverse? this is the tone that lets you know that there is a fault in the system, and a pretty safe bet that they are also turned on.

No long tone to say they're on but not working and no display on the head unit, but the button by climate control flashes
