Columbus unit software update, i'm confused

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, sorry for the new topic. I read all topics but so many informations and links etc and made me confused.

I have a 10/2008 Superb with Columbus head unit.

All i know is the info from the sticker bcs i have no access to the system information (Why? I pushed the Setup button for 30 sec, only i got AM, FM, DAB).

Sticker say 3T0 035 680 HW: H03 SW:0904 31.08.2008

I would like to ask and please tell me clearly what i need to do to upgrade the software!?

This moment the unit is not compatible with my HTC One too, i would like a newer map for the sat nav  and A2DP at least from my mobile.

Thank you very much your help and have a nice day!

Chris

Adam,

I'm not sure you intended to link to the L&K parking sensor thread!

Try this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/283385-columbus-satnav/?fromsearch=1

Chris,

Download the 4xxx firmware from the My GTi website and run that. It will wipe your maps & music though but you'll be up to date.

I've just help another member with same part number although his firmware was 1104. Shouldn't make any difference.

That's the end of the one I linked to!

Get some sleep Adam...

Zzzzzzzzz!

The 4xxx firmware will also give access to the hidden menu as it becomes activated by default.

It also activates Video In Motion (VIM), but using it is illegal.

Newer maps you should buy from the dealer.

BT compatibility with your phone depends upon module fitted. There is a lengthy thread about it in the Superb section.

Thank you very much guys! So you say my update will be the 4024?! But my unit is not A B C or D.. what now?

The part number on your HU doesent match the revision type.

Yours is an 'A' revision with LCD screen.

If you read the thread I linked to the same info is in there and the OP of that thread has successfully updated his firmware straight to 4020 from 1104.

Hi mate, what sort of service history does your car have, do you use your local Skoda dealership regulary?

I've just had my MOT done at local dealer, despite the fact this was the first time this car had been there, because I had used them regulary with my 3 previous Skoda's they upgraded my SAT NAV firmware and maps for free off their latest factory disc, might be worth asking the question, I had my MOT done there as it was a very reasonable £39 and by all accounts the update saved me around £100, I will be using them to service the car as their service cost where only £10 - £20 pounds more than the independants that quoted me, by my maths that a good saving if I can get the STA NAV upgraded for free.

Sounds line a great result. Well done.

Unfortunately for me, my relationship with the local dealer isn't as good as yours as I've only had one Skoda, it didn't come from the dealer and I don't always go there for parts / servicing.

What firmware / map version are you on now then?

I updated my unit to 3814 bcs the 4024 not working, stopping the instal when updating the HDD.

I got the V9 map so that is updated too.

Bluetooth...still not compatible with my phones (iPhone5, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC One). I think my BT unit not so bad, sticker say 3C8 035 730 SW 2800 HW 012, i installed the RSAP on my rooted Galaxy and it worked except the music stream :( So i'm still investigate what i need to do..

Thank you very very much the help for everyone!

I think you'll need to change your BT module to get streaming to work as the one you have has questionable support for A2DP protocol (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting).

The 'A' revision of the same module appears to do everything: A2DP, HFP, rSAP, etc.

With my HU the 'B' 'C' or '5N0-035-730-D' modules compatible too?

Edited by KrisztianUK

I have a '5N0...D' with my Columbus and can stream music via BT from an iPhone 4S.

Sir, thank you very much! I have no more question, thank you and have a good weekend!

Just be sure to get the D unit for that particular 5n0 module. A B and C units are all rSap only.

Sounds line a great result. Well done.

Unfortunately for me, my relationship with the local dealer isn't as good as yours as I've only had one Skoda, it didn't come from the dealer and I don't always go there for parts / servicing.

To be honest mate i don't know, they told me they'd updated it to the latest maps and software updates they had got on their factory disc, I know they did this as my old software was the 5 digit postcode, but now I have the full 7 digit postcode software, as for the maps I haven't used it since, go hols soon so it will get a good trial then, the old maps were that out of date we did a lot of "off roading"

If you hold down the 'Setup ' button for 30 seconds you might get to the hidden menu which will show map and software versions.

I only ask to check to see where Skoda are up to with updates (I suspect still on v.8 maps and no idea on firmware).
