Demisting problem

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have started to get a problem with the drivers front screen and side window misting up.

Have found that no matter what the settings, the vents on the drivers side only blow cold air while the passenger side blows whatever the temperature dial is set at.

I have a 2010 Superb Elegance with the dual zone climate control.

Unfortunately the car is out of warranty so any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Have you checked for leaves or anyother blockage on the scuttle board?  Once you've checked the obvious, like is the carpet damp (Indicative of a heater matrix leak), etc, get it into your local dealer and have it checked, if there's a fault it should show on diags, and how you choose to progress is entirely up to you!

I'd say, if it's not an easy, straightforward diagnostic, then it's probably not a DIY job.  You'd be best going to your local main dealer.

Good luck, I hope you find the cause of your problem soon.

Thanks for the swift reply. The carpets are fine with no sign of damp.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a scuttle board?

The car is due a service soon so I will mention it to the dealers but I could do without a big bill.

Thanks

Steve

Problem is mate if you don't get it sorted now you will have real issues in the Winter with visibility

That's likely to be either the control unit or a vent motor.

I would also rule out any electronic shenanigans by setting the air con to dual, check both sides air temps respond correctly (or not) and then set it off dual and do the same.

Also try recirculation on/off just in case.

Hi

Tried your suggestion (and every combination I could think of) and still only cold air from the drivers side.

Will have to see what the dealer says.

Cheers

Hi

Just got back from the main dealers and the problem was a loose sensor on the pollen filter, which was due to be changed in the service anyway.

Could have been shaken loose by driving over a pothole or speed hump they said.

Problem solved with no cost.

Result!
