Just a quick question if you do not have Maxi dot information display if it possible to have it fitted I have 2010 octavia vrs but ive read through the forum and it seems my car is bog standard so just wondering whether you can have the system updated if its worth it?

Yes it is possible to retro-fit it.

Personally I wouldn’t buy another car without it.

Eddie_NL on here is the person to PM as he is able to fit and code them in, something msin deskers seem reluctant to do even with new dash pods, and can explain the pro's and con's of retrofitting them.

He's near Great Yarmouth I believe.

I don't have it. Did consider retro fitting. But decided my next car will have it instead.

Am I really missing out not having it I mean £300 worth spending I have the bolero at the moment too :-( starting to feel ive not got a great car nomore. Think a list is in order on a new post

That's kind of what I thought, the main push being that I could have the sat nav direction info inbetween the speedo and rev counter.

As that was the main clincher for me on a pre-FL, and I have VCDS, I decided against it.

As yours is a FL and you have a Bolero, its less significant I suppose.

I heard a number of people say that the Maxidot gives you the ability to modify settings, but so does VCDS. And how often do you need to change the settings once you've done it once?

Yes, you'll need a complete new dash panel: used or new.

The dealers may replace the dash pod (they need to follow the procedures for replacing a damaged one) but will only touch brand new units (if at all).

The only person I know who has the kit and know how is Eddie_NL in here and he can also swap fit a used unit.

You'll need to make sure you have the right one for your vehicle (pre/post-FL, petrol/diesel, Vrs/normal, etc.) though.

To me - the ability to flat-line my Xenon lights via the Maxi-Dot when travelling abroad is "almost" worth the money I paid for it alone :)
