Hesitation on acceleration

Featured Replies

HI,

I have a 2008 CR vRS Octavia. It had a stage 1 map by Shark about 6 months ago.

I may be imagining it but it seems lately there is a slight hesitation on application of gas. Almost like it revs but the clutch is not biting, then it suddenly bites and you get going.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what might be wrong? Its and 80K car and it is 10K since last service (due in shortly!)

Could be a gummed up EGR, does it happen mainly at 1500 to 2k revs on a medium throttle?

Not sure if this applies to diesels but...........

My stage 1 vRS TFSI has developed a slight hesitation of late. Coincidentally as the hot weather arrived. I notice it during the day when temps are above 22ºC. The car also feels 'flat,' as if someone has run off with a few of my horses!

Once temps drop below 17ºC (mainly at night), the car is a completely different beast! Feels responsive; the turbo surge on boost is stronger too! I've concluded the intercooler isn't up to the job of a stage 1 map. I'm upgrading it soon.

I've put it down to spending the previous 2 week driving round Europe in a N/A car!

The remap reduced the lag but it's become noticable again after going back to petrol.
