rear wheel bearing hub

Featured Replies

hiya guys, just a question, im replacing the rear wheel hubs on my mk1 Octavia vrs, just wondering if anyone knows what the nut on the hub is called? its not a torx and none of my sockets will fit it, ive rang up skoda and pts and they have no idea what its called apart from its a 12point self locking nut, so was wondering what code this is so I can go and buy a removal tool,( i.e  I know torx are t's and normal sockets come in mm or 3/4)

 thanks  :)

its a 30mm 12 point socket.

also anyone know the recommended torque setting for the nut to be tightened?

Halfords for the socket! Be about £9?

If its anything like the fronts its  "FT",

Whats up with the bearings never heard of a rear failing its usually front ones

the rear bearing was making the typical thud thud thud sound as it was driving and there was play in the wheel, ive done both sides now and disc and pads to be sure, the only problem I have now is one of the rear calipers was seized, managed to strip it down and free the sliders, but one of the sliders is bent (wtf???) dunno how it happened, does anybody know where to get one from? rang up local skoda dealer and they said they only come with the hangers at £130 a side, I aint paying that for a slider, or is there anybody on here whos has one lying about, I may aquire gratis :))))))) or will pay.  thanks
