Featured Replies

Easy Job to do when you know how

Remove the 6 torx screws on either side of the Bumper arches from bottom up past the plastic trim where bumper joins the wing

Remove 3 torxs screws on the top of bumper between headlights

Remove the bumper grills to expose 2 torxs screws and remove them (note the right side has the air temp sensor and bracket attached, near horn, remember to refit  )

Some VRS's have 2 screws underneath also remove these.

Remove the Bumper side bolts(10mm) 2 per side. Found under the plastic trim

TIP: to remove plastic trim use a very small flat screwdriver with a cloth underneath to avoid scratching paint and lever it slightly. Trim will come away

Get a helping hand to support each side and pull bumper forward and away from the car.

There is an easier way.

Drive upto a kerb, and park so that the front bumper is sat on it, and the front wheels are touching the kerb.

Then fill the car with 2 - 3 extra people and reverse back quickly.

If you have done it right, the bumper will be on the kerb, fully removed from the car :D

I actually did this once (not intentional), with a mondeo v6 I had lol.

Wish i had thought about reading the tech guides before doing my Intercooler change last week.

never gave it a thought and it took me 45 mins to work out how the hell to remove the bumper.

Now it would take me 10 mins after learning how.

Well maybe next time.

Yes lol although this post is mk1 my mk2 is different. I think I might concoct a mk2 one as it is quite a bit different.

Still more exciting finding out for yourself how to do stuff than breaking open a Haynes manual lol

Has anyone done the same for a MKII (Scout), I need to change the headlight washer jet piston, and the garage want to charge me £161 for the privilege!!
