Hi folks. Just bought an Octavia 1.8TSI, after being most impressed with my wifes 1.2 tsi Fabia which she bought 6 months ago. Very impressed with the Octavia, great engine, responsive, smooth, quiet.

Only complaint is the  noise from the Continental contact sport 2 tyres. (205-15-60). The car has only done 6k, and pressures are correct, but the tyre roar, especially at motorway speed, -didn't notice when i bought the car,  has become quiet intrusive, after doing a 350 mile trip the weekend.

Therefore, are these tyres known for this, would a change to a quieter, tyre when these are worn down, solve the problem?  or would it be something else?. I welcome your feedback. Many thanks

Welcome. I have a 55 fabia vrs and i have alot of tyre noise also. I was running 4 yokohama paradas now changed to yokohama a520 on the front. When there new its not2 bad but as they get more worn they get quite bad :o.

Welcome.

Can't comment on your tyres specifically, but the tyre I had fitted before my current ones were very loud, noticed a big difference when I changed.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Thanks for replies folks. Looks likely the tyres are to blame, plus a lack of sound proofing at the rear. will have to grin and bear the tyre noise untill they need changing. Does anyone have experience of really quiet tyres on their octavia, what make would you suggest?. As for the soundproofing, can i get a kit to do the job and where from?. Many thanks.
