Battery or Alternator issue?

Featured Replies

Afternoon!

Took my furby camping over the weekend to the New Forest.

Had a lovely drive down there, no problems at all.

Left the car to sit for the day on Monday, came to start her up on Tuesday before heading home and boom. Car wont start.

Decided it was a flat battery that was stopping her starting.

Jump started her off of my mum's car without a problem. Left her running for no more than 5mins. I get in the car, hear a loud beep, get 3 warning lights on the dash (PAS, Traction Control and flashing Handbrake) and she dies again. Jump started it again without a problem and drove straight off. She's been fine today but then she did drive 170 miles home yesterday.

I replaced the battery a few months back as she wasn't holding any charge when left for a few days.

I use my car every day so its very rare that she isn't used. But surely she should be able to last more than 1 day without getting a flat battery?

I guessing it's now an alternator issue but haven't got round to testing that. Just wondering is anyone else had any ideas???

Thanks

Common problem of the load signal cable breaking down? Quick search will help you it's very very common. You can do it yourself if your handy with a soldering iron .

Sweet, thanks for the response.

Will do a search now!

My thoughts would revolve around the signal cable and the sprague clutch sticking "open".
