Why didn't i just buy a genuine window regulator

Featured Replies

Finally got round to looking at my passenger front window other day, pulled door panel off and cables snapped,

Couldn't get to skoda so just ordered a non gen, went to fit it tonight and its wrong bloody one,

Got old one out and then realised it was wrong and theres no way am paying 50quid for something that i have to make fit so jammed some wood under window to hold it up and refit door panel leaving old regulator and motor out, then looked door manually and shut door.

Then realised i hadn't put cable onto inside door handle, lucky i'd only put handle screws in and ones along bottom of door but was still fun trying to get it off with door locked closed,

Rant over :(  :(

haha, I bought the wrong lock for mine and in the process of efin' about snapped the window cable. Had it held up with gaffer tape for ages. Fixed it (sort of) a while ago then eventually last week swapped it for the correct lock. Today I got the last bit of trim sorted for the door button. No rush though as the alarm went off if anyone opened the door ;)

If you think they are hard work, try doing one on an a3.... Pain....

Those window regulators are fun, already had a Fabia in this week with a broken one.  With genuine parts if the part number ends with an odd number it's a left hand or non handed part, if it's even then it's a right hand part, so you can tell just by looking at the sticker on the packaging.

I've still got the original 22 year old regulators on my car.

Am no stranger to window regs but there usually on volvos and some of them can be good fun

Fabia ones are OK if the carriers are bolted, the riveted ones are shhiiii, not doing well in the poll. Bowden cable can be a PITA though. And the con rod from lock to button.

ah yes, the fond memories of drilling rivets out on a rainy Sunday morning for somebody that was getting wet while driving... Poor things... have skoda never heard of nuts and bolts?
