So yesterday i was messing with a spare mirror shell from when i fitted mk2 mirrors on my mk1 and only have a spare passenger one but decided to paint it the same colour as my wheel centres to see how it looked,i'm not struck on it to be honest but may be that i'm just not used to it so thought i'd put up a poll and see what others thought?

here's an old pic in black

Red works with those rims, but black otherwise.

Not for me. It looks like they were just replaced with a red one from the scrappy. :giggle:

Your car is one of the best looking around, I think that just takes away from it.

What he said

I do like the red scheme :)

You'd need to do the grille in red too, to pull off the theme a bit more

Seeing as the mirror covers are £25 set, why not have both colours ?

having done the whole bright wheel thing, i learned very quickly you need to have loads of little bits of colour to pull it off.

your car is 1 of the sickest on here and you know i love it, but..   i think you need maybe a little more colour or back to black.

Roof it is then :D

Well I'm still not convinced by the red, left it on the car and kept looking at it throughout the day but its not really growing on me, which is strange as I like mini's,fiat 500's etc with coloured mirrors but doesn't seem right on mine :(

a couple of mates keep telling me to do them red but as i'm not sure and the votes leading towards leaving them black then that might have to put the idea to bed,at least for now but I may still get hold of a spare drivers cover and paint it so I can swap them over if I feel like it in the future, plus it only takes a couple of minutes to take them on and off so no biggy swapping them over :)

Definately not going too daft and having coloured grille/roof etc as that would be too much for me.

Cheers for the input guys :)

Hey. Sorry for OT, but is there a possibility to make a  "how to" for fitting the mk2 mirrors on the mk1? :D And are the indicators working?

I think there already is a how to? I remember reading up on it being really rather tricky....

Hi there,i never did a guide for making them as it was a bit involved and wasn't sure how they'd turn out but they are wired up for movement, heating, indicators and puddle lights, thinking of taking them off soon though as i fancy a change :)

Leave em black dude, it'll tie in with the theme more. To much colour and it'll look gash. ;)

This was a thread from last summer dude lol,I ended up with a pair of red covers and a pair of black but think I'm gonna remove the mirrors and do something different :)
